Relation between basalt stone and plaster

Im constructing a wall for a college and theres basalt stone cladding for 60 cm then plaster continues to the highest of sill. The issue is that after putting in basalt stone, its protruding and the mortar used to repair it to the wall is seen what’s the answer to this downside
