Nigeria: In Paris, Tinubu Discusses Ai, Digital Innovation Partnership With Google CEO

Abuja — President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday held necessary discussions with Google CEO, Sundar Pichai, over the opportunity of advancing Nigeria’s function in Synthetic Intelligence (AI) and digital innovation.

The assembly, which happened in Paris, France, in line with a message President Tinubu posted on his verified X deal with, @officialABAT, explored potential partnerships geared toward positioning Nigeria as a worldwide expertise hub.

Following the talks, President Tinubu described the engagement as a key step in the direction of leveraging AI and digital expertise for nationwide improvement.

In accordance with the president, “We’re exploring partnership alternatives with Google, which is able to deal with 5 key areas: enhancing scalable cloud infrastructure, equipping our workforce with important abilities for the long run, selling AI innovation and analysis, driving cloud adoption, and elevating Nigeria’s standing within the international tech panorama as a hub for innovation and AI transition.”

President Tinubu highlighted Nigeria’s rising AI ecosystem, pointing to Awarri Applied sciences as a notable participant within the sector.

He revealed that the federal government is collaborating with Awarri to develop essential AI software program infrastructure tailor-made to Nigeria’s distinctive wants in arts, tradition and languages–areas usually neglected by current AI fashions.

“This contains information seize platforms and a big language mannequin (LLM) for Nigerian languages in partnership with the Nationwide Centre for Synthetic Intelligence and Robotics (NCAIR),” President Tinubu mentioned.

He added that the discussions with Google align with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes financial diversification by means of industrialization, digitization and innovation.

The president emphasised that the initiative would empower companies, create new alternatives and set up Nigeria as a serious pressure within the international digital economic system.

He additional disclosed that the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Financial system will present strategic oversight for the partnership, whereas the Nationwide Info Know-how Growth Company (NITDA) will lead its implementation.
