Researchers from the California Institute of Know-how, the College of Maryland, and the Invoice & Melinda Gates Basis have created a dataset monitoring crop yields throughout Africa to help meals safety and satellite-based agricultural monitoring. The GROW-Africa dataset consists of greater than 500,000 geotagged observations from 1973 to 2022 for 25 main crops, equivalent to maize, cassava, and groundnuts. These data come from a variety of sources, together with authorities statistics, family surveys, and field-level crop measurements. By capturing each broad traits and native variation in agricultural productiveness, the dataset helps researchers perceive how yields are affected by local weather, farming practices, and infrastructure and fills a serious knowledge hole in areas the place crop enhancements are most wanted.
