The annual Resene Sir Ian Athfield Memorial Lecture will kind half of the line-up, delivered in Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland (on 24, 25 and 26 September, respectively) by Chilean architect and educator Sebastián Irarrázaval, a Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Worldwide Fellow (2018). Irarrázaval’s civic, industrial, residential and training work is underpinned by what he describes as a three-pillared design philosophy, encompassing care, connection and repetition.
Additionally visiting New Zealand in the course of the competition is Australian broadcaster, comic and structure fanatic Tim Ross, who will probably be presenting ‘Structure is Ace’ in Wellington, Auckland and Christchurch on 24, 25 and 26 September, respectively.
On Thursday 19 September, Structure NZ and ArchitectureNow’s common Mannequin Residents competitors will probably be held at ECC in Auckland, with all proceeds from the groups’ entries going to Te Tāpui Atawhai Auckland Metropolis Mission.
